Inspiration

I loved the work of Lotter Reiniger + Ben Hibon. The Silhouette style is very effect and I am going to use this technique in my work.

Research

Angela's stories are quiet dark, so I did a little research and looked at others ideas. Here are a few drawings I liked, they all vary in style and capture the stories well. I am going to start a few sketches to develop an idea and style of my own to suit this brief.

Angela Carter

We have been asked to complete 3 illustrations for the author Angela Carter's book, The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories.



One illustration for each of the selected stories; 
1/The Bloody Chamber,
2/Puss-in-Boots and
3/The Company of Wolves.

When I researched for some information on 'The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories', I learnt that this book retells classic fairy tales from an adult, twentieth-century perspective. It was intended to disturb the audience. Carter also revisits an age-old tale with her feminist viewpoint.
